For map see entry on HGC site << Previous Entry Next Entry >>

In the Karpas peninsula, 1.2 miles (2 km) east of Neta (Famagusta district), near the coast.

Description: The single-aisled vaulted structure with semi-circular apse and barrel vault supported by two rib arches on engaged piers has arched recesses between the latter along the north and south walls. The interior, reported to have been decorated with frescoes, is now plastered [Gunnis (1936) 354; MKE 12, 189-90].

Dating: A middle Byzantine date may be suggested on account of the architecture [although dated to the 14th century in Gunnis (1936) 354].
